New Regulations for Rubber Pet Toys Export Take Effect, Enterprises Accelerate Compliance Upgrades

May.05,2026

Recently, the European Union officially updated the safety regulations for pet products, imposing stricter requirements on the material safety and labeling of rubber pet toys. The new rules explicitly prohibit products containing harmful chemicals such as phthalates, specific heavy metals, and Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) from entering the EU market. Additionally, manufacturers are required to clearly label the suitable pet size, age, material composition, cleaning methods, and safety warnings. Non-compliant products face the risk of being returned or destroyed.  To comply with the new regulations, domestic rubber pet toy exporters are accelerating compliance upgrades.

Leading companies like Jiangmen Mingfeng and Zhejiang Hengrui have increased investments in third-party testing, establishing a full-process quality inspection system from raw material intake to finished product output. They strictly adhere to the limits in EU REACH Regulation Annex XVII and the safety standards for food contact materials set by the FDA, replacing environmentally friendly and non-toxic rubber materials while eliminating prohibited additives. Some companies have also optimized label designs and multilingual instruction manuals, refining safety usage guidelines and improving technical documentation and conformity declarations to avoid export clearance obstacles at the source.  Moreover, many enterprises have established dynamic tracking mechanisms for EU regulations, proactively adapting to EN71 series standards and the General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) requirements to enhance supply chain transparency. Customs data shows that driven by these compliance upgrades, domestic compliant rubber pet toy exports increased by 28% year-on-year. Compliant enterprises, leveraging stable quality and standardized advantages, have significantly improved their export competitiveness, effectively bypassing technical trade barriers and securing a more stable share in the EU pet product market.
